Who we are

Roots of Circularity (RoC) Nepal is an innovative, educational programme with the aim of developing a strong and engaging ecosystem for the Circular Economy in the country.

Running in four key intervention areas from 2023-2027, the programme uses various methodologies to integrate stakeholders and establish a powerful Circular Alliance, inspiring and educating vital sectors in Nepal to adopt the principles of the Circular Economy.

WCN is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection and preservation of Nepal’s rich biodiversity, working tirelessly to conserve endangered species, promote sustainable practices, and raise awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation.

What we do

We bring together various stakeholders to ignite a systemic shift in Nepali citizens, enterprises, and policies toward the adoption and integration of circular economy principles.

Stakeholders

CSOs: Engage and collaborate with civil society organizations in specific regions for comprehensive community engagement.

Startups and MSMEs: Support startups and MSMEs to promote circular practices by providing resources for their growth.

Academic institutions: Implement interactive educational programmes in schools and colleges to promote Circular Economy principles among students.

Business incubators: Collaborate with business incubators to integrate Circular Economy practices into the start-up ecosystem.

Provincial and local governments: Work closely with provincial and local government bodies to develop and implement Circular Economy initiatives.

Media: Utilise media channels to disseminate information and create awareness about the importance of the Circular Economy in the targeted regions.

Education facilitates the transfer of knowledge about the circular economy to empower incubators, entrepreneurs, teachers, students and the Nepalese community with sustainable knowledge.

Entrepreneurship in promoting and adopting the integration of consumer demand for circular goods and services, and increased supply circular products, services, and business solutions through the dissemination of knowledge on the Circular Economy to the entrepreneurs, incubators and Nepali community  within the policies to catalyse, enable, promote and institutionalise circular economy in Nepal. 

Policy to form a dynamic alliance between policy stakeholders, bridging the gap between civil society organisations, the private sector and policymakers. The Nepal Circularity Alliance will play a key role in promoting the Circular Economy at local, provincial and federal level, ensuring comprehensive ecosystem development.

Media raise awareness through social media channels, involving public authorities, the media, civil society organisations and MsMes. Emphasise the imperative shift towards a conscious ecosystem based on the principles of the Circular Economy, highlighting its social, economic and environmental benefits for preservation.

  • Dialogues and exchanges and the creation of the Nepal Circularity Alliance (NCA).
  • Empowering 60 MSMSEs: 60 MSMEs are capacitated on circularity and financially supported (pre-seed fund) towards innovative circular business models during the course of 4 years. MSMEs led by women, youth and marginalised groups such as underrepresented communities and ethnicities (dalit, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ amongst others) are prioritised, hence fostering their active participation in the change process.
  • Development and application of Circular Economy Education curriculum and Interactive Education Curriculum material for children and youth, and mass awareness campaigns.
  • NCA promotes an enabling environment for multi-stakeholder collaboration for policy development to foster Circular Economy.

The alliance serves as a collaborative platform to engage with civil society organisations, empower startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises, and collaborate with private sector, provincial and local government, policymakers, and academic institutions to promote multi-stakeholder collaboration for Circular Economy development, integration and implementation.
