Born from the sight of textile waste piling up after Nepal’s festive season, Rekriti turns discarded fabrics into durable, customised bags. Collaborating with factories, tailors, and thrift stores, and engaging customers in up-cycling, Rekriti promotes sustainable consumption and community inclusion. Through the RoC programme, the team deepened their understanding of circularity as a continuous system that blends environmental care, social impact, and collaborative innovation.

Naturo Earth is rethinking packaging—a critical yet often overlooked part of a product’s lifecycle—through reusable glass bottles and biodegradable, plantable “elephant-poop” paper wrapping. Incubator Programme: Applications Now Open (Bagmati Province)

Applications now open for the Roots of Circularity (RoC) Incubator Programme supporting enterprises in Bagmati Province to integrate circular economy principles into their business models. Over an eight-month ideation and incubation phase—followed by a three-month pre-acceleration phase—participants receive tailored guidance, masterclasses, and one-on-one coaching to design sustainable, circular solutions.

Armenia and Nepal on building alliances for circularity

On October 25, 2024, the Roots of Circularity Nepal consortium and Impact Hub Yerevan’s CirculUP! team came together for a cross-country learning session on building alliances for the circular economy. Drawing from Armenia’s experience in forming the Armenian Circular Economy Coalition (ACEC), participants explored best practices in stakeholder engagement, governance, and co-creation.

Impact Hub Kathmandu Welcomes EU Ambassador to Nepal

On July 8, 2024, Impact Hub Kathmandu hosted EU Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo and her team to showcase its role in strengthening Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The visit featured presentations on key programmes like the Business Incubator, Impact Academy, and FabLab Nepal, followed by a tour of the FabLab and an Entrepreneurs’ Marketplace where local innovators showcased their sustainable solutions.

Scoping Study: Circular Economy in Lumbini and Bagmati Provinces

A recent scoping study revealed key gaps in awareness, financing, and policy support while highlighting opportunities for innovation and collaboration. By engaging local stakeholders and promoting education and entrepreneurship in Lumbini and Bagmati Provinces, the project aims to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future for Nepal.

Strengthening Circularity Expertise: Inside RoC’s Training of Trainers

In December 2023, Impact Hub Kathmandu hosted a three-day ‘Training of Trainers’. Facilitated by the Impact Hub Association, the training deepened participants’ understanding of circular economy principles and their application in Nepal. It fostered collaboration, practical learning, and a shared commitment to embedding circularity into everyday practices, affirming that Circular Economy is an alive concept.
